Here is the simple basis for our belief:
God’s Word says:
God is perfectly righteous and just.
To be accepted by Him we must share His perfect righteousness or face His perfect justice.
Not one person is righteous (Romans 3:10)
because all have sinned (Romans 3:23)
Since all have sinned, good works of any kind cannot produce
perfect righteousness for us, – so all must be judged by God
(Romans 6:23).
God’s good news for us is that though we have sinned, are guilty, and are headed for judgment,
yet because of His love and mercy, He has provided a way for us to be rescued from His judgment
by He, Himself becoming the means of our rescue!
God joined Himself to humanity in the person we know as “Jesus” – who is both God and man.
Jesus lived a perfectly righteous life (was sinless) but was put to death by people who hated him.
In His death He was actually fulfilling God’s plan to pay the death penalty for us.
As man he could die, and as God he could pay an infinite penalty for an infinite number of people.
God says that Jesus died for/in the place of sinners and that all who hear what he says and believe Him – will be forgiven
(their debt will be cancelled), they will be viewed by God as “righteous” because there is no longer the guilt of sin on their record,
and they will be given eternal life with Him forever.
So – here is a summary of the details:
we personally receive Jesus’ payment for sin, – (if we turn from our own way and turn to God –
seeking His rescue from judgment and place our full personal dependence upon what God has done for us through Jesus).
Do you understand this?
If so, – God commands you to believe it, to turn from your own way, and to turn to Him and receive His gift of forgiveness in Jesus.

So – here is a summary of the details:
- God is righteous and just.
- We are unrighteous and headed for just punishment.
- Jesus, – the sinless one, – took our place paying the punishment for sin we deserved to pay.
- God says if we believe Him, – that though we are guilty,
we personally receive Jesus’ payment for sin, – (if we turn from our own way and turn to God –
seeking His rescue from judgment and place our full personal dependence upon what God has done for us through Jesus).
- Then God will pardon us, declaring that He sees us as being without sin to condemn us,
